THANAKHA

Thanakha is well known in Myanmar as a kind
of make - up which is adored and widely used by the Myanmar
women of all ages since centuries ago. The men folk also
appreciate this fragrance on their women. The fragrance of Thanakha stimulates the mind to be fresh and clear and imparts
the beauty of face and body and smoothness of skin. The
effectiveness is that it turns gradually the pale skin into the
form of soft and wet texture by using continuously. The Myanmar
women use the Thanakha plant from its branches , stems and roots
Traditionally ,the barks of these parts are rubbed with a small
amount of water on a hand - smooth surface of Kyaukpyin (rock
state).
RUTALE
Rutale , botanical name of order , contains the plant of
Thanakha. This order is closely allied to the Geraniales. The
chief difference is that in the Rutales , the plants are mainly
shrubs or trees. The order contains 12 families and is divided
into three suborders of the families and is divided into three
suborders of the families , Rutaceae and Meliacae, included in
the order Rutale.
NATURE OF THANAKHA
The tree is a shrub or a small straight
stemmed tree, with plae corky bark and thorny branches ,
reaching a height of 25 -30 ft and a stern diameter of 6 - 12 in
. The wood is hard , heavy , light lemon to brownish yellow in
colour ,smooth, lustrous ,straight - grained and fine - textured
, durable , and immune to insect and fungus attack , not liable
to develop serious end - cracks, but prone to surface cracking ;
season fairly well under shade and can be converted when green.
The tree is moderate sized tree with straight sharp strong
spines 1 . 2-3 .7 cm long .The bark are less in young plant but
more thicker in order onces. The colour of the stem is 2 in
after the age of 3- 5 years.
